Lobos Finish Fifth at Utah Invitational

WEST YELLOWSTONE, Mont. — The Lobos got three top 20 finishes on the day, including the second career top 20 finish by Brenna Egan in the 15K freestyle as the Lobos remained and finished in fifth place at the Utah Invitational.
 
Overall, the women’s team finished sixth in the 15K freestyle and the men’s team, short one scorer, finished seventh in the men’s 20K freestyle. 
 
In the women’s race, Andrea Klementová finished 17th and Egan was 19th, scoring 15 and 14 points each, while Carolyn Lucca finished 23rd to score 11 points.  On the men’s side, Sindre Tungesvik scored 19 points with a second straight top 20 finish, coming in 17th in just his fourth day in the country.  UNM’s other scoring skier was Niklas Rombock, who was 33rd, scoring 11 points.
 
The Nordic team will now return to Albuquerque and the team will have off until the Jade Enterprises/UNM Invitational February 3 and 4, with the alpine events taking place at Red River, New Mexico and the Nordic events taking place in Crested Butte, Colorado.
 
NOTES:  Klementová’s only other top 20 finish was at the Montana State Invitation in the freestyle, coming in 16th … Egan’s other top 10 was in a non-scoring meet, the U.S. Championships, where she finished 10th in the freestyle sprints.
