Football Getting More and More Momentum

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — With the student-athletes on a short break between the closing of Fall Camp and the beginning of the Fall semester on Monday, things may seem a little quiet over in the Tow Diehm Football Complex, but a full coaching staff is busy with meetings, breaking down practice video, and game planning for the upcoming season.  It’s a staff that has momentum going into the 2017 season.  That momentum is being noticed once again on a national level.

In the past two days, several national outlets have picked up on the prowess that is Lobo Football, from the Associated Press season preview ending up on both the sites of USA Today and the Washington Post, to major college football sites picking up the story on UNM’s unique Fall Camp break,  Lobo Football is going national.

Below are links to many of the national stories from the past few days.  The Associated Press preview on New Mexico football was picked up by both USA Today and the Washington Post and talks of UNM keeping the momentum of the last two seasons going.  USA Today also has a larger conference preview that consistently mentions how tough a team and how good the Lobos are, while tabbing the offensive line as the conference’s best .  The final stories come from College Football News and Football Scoop, and they both pick up on Rick Wright’s story in the Albuquerque Journal, delving into UNM’s innovative four-day break prior to school starting.  In an era where student-athlete rights are at the forefront, these articles showcase how UNM is leading the way in student-athlete welfare.
