Men's Basketball Open Tryouts on Saturday, 8/25

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Following an exciting trip to the 2018 Mountain West Championship contest, The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team will hold a preseason team tryout for UNM students interested in joining the program. The tryout will be held on Saturday, August 25 at the Rudy Davalos Basketball Center – registration will be at 10 a.m. 

To be eligible to tryout for the team, individuals must be enrolled full-time at UNM attempting at least 12 credit hours or more in the Fall 2018 semester. Men’s basketball practices are typically held in the afternoons and conflicts will be considered in part of the evaluation.
 
“This was a tremendous experience last year not only for the students that tried out, but also our basketball program,” head coach Paul Weir said. “We were able to find two young men who joined our roster for the season and one who actually played in some meaningful times and games. Hopefully, this opportunity can be beneficial and we look forward to evaluating as many young men as possible.”

To express interest, send your UNM banner ID number and full name to Eric Schultz in the compliance office at erschultz@unm.edu. This step must be completed for individuals to be eligible for the tryout. Once approved by compliance, individuals will need to bring proof of a completed medical physical to the tryout and sign waivers upon arrival. Physical MUST be completed prior to tryout.
