UNM at the Mountain West Media Summit

LAS VEGAS, Nev. –— You know it’s time for football when the preseason teams are released and the Mountain West Football Media Summit commences.  The 2017 Media Summit once again features all 12 teams split over a two-day divisional format, and it once again is taking place at the Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip.

The West Division opens the Summit on Tuesday, with the Mountain Division teams running through the media gamut on Wednesday.  The Lobos were selected fifth for a third straight year (this despite going 12-5 over the its last 17 conference games, the second-best mark in the league), and Garrett Hughes, Aaron Jenkins and Tyrone Owens were all named preseason All-Mountain West.

Representing the Lobos at the Media Summit along with Coach Bob Davie is Hughes and quarterback Lamar Jordan.  UNM’s student-athletes will actually open their Summit on Tuesday night at 7:15 p.m. Mountain Time, having some fun in the Mountain West Social Media Room, where they will hang out with host Katie Cavender on Facebook Live playing finger-flick football, Operation (Lamar will try to take out his funny bone for $200…) and other fun games that will allow Lobo fans to see UNM’s student-athletes in a completely different setting.

On Wednesday, Coach Davie gets the Mountain Division’s day started by taking part in the Mountain West’s Mountain Division Coaches Roundtable at 9 a.m. Mountain Time (also on Facebook Live).  Davie will join the other five Mountain Division coaches to discuss anything and everything in college football over a 45-minute show, moderated by Jesse Kurtz of the Mountain West Network.

Fans can follow along all day via the Mountain West’s Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/MountainWestConference/, as well at UNM’s official football twitter page, www.twitter.com/NewMexicoFB.  UNM’s Fall Camp opens on Thursday night with the first of two evening practices, from 5:15 – 7:40 p.m.  After that the team will move to its regular practice time for camp of 11:15 a.m.  Fall Camp is open to the public and media.  Filming and photographing of practice by the general public is not allowed.

Three Lobos Named Preseason All-Mountain West

That the Lobos have defeated seven bowl teams in the last two seasons and were named by SportsOnEarth are one of college football’s most entertaining teams.   The national recognition from SportsOnEarth continues a recent trend of New Mexico football hitting the national spotlight, whether it’s three major articles in USA Today over the past year, including one to kick off the 2016 bowl season, or national interviews with Bob Davie on Sirius/XM, on UNM’s seven appearances on ESPN last season.

Lobo Football not only is one of college football’s most entertaining teams, but it’s probably the most affordable and best value.  Season tickets can be purchased for as low as $86 for a great six-game home schedule that features New Mexico State as well as bowl teams in Colorado State and Air Force.  There are also new corporate plans available for businesses to take advantage of and bring a group out to Dreamstyle Stadium.  To purchase new season tickets, call 505-925-LOBO, log on unmtickets.com or visit the Dreamstyle Arena Ticket Office Monday through Friday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm Mountain Time.
