WGCA All-Scholar Team List

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Academic accolades continue to roll in for the University of New Mexico women’s golf team. The Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) announced the 2016-17 WGCA All-Scholar Team GPA list and the Lobos finished third among the 25 teams listed.

The Lobos turned in a 3.861 GPA for the 2016-17 academic year, besting last year’s GPA of 3.809. The Lobos finished fourth last year among the WGCA teams. This year, the Lobos finished behind top GPA team Jacksonville University and University of Louisiana Monroe.

“As coaches we are very proud of how our players conduct themselves in the classroom each year,” said Associate Head Coach Britney Choy. “Our team is very self-motivated, disciplined, and encourage each other to do great things on and off the golf course. Our athletes would not have such a high team GPA without the help from our student-athlete academic success services who are there to keep them on track to graduate and provide the academic help they need to maintain such distinguished GPA’s.”

The WGCA recognizes the women’s golf program with the highest collective team GPA which includes all of the team’s student-athletes for the 2016-17 season. The award is presented regardless of division. The Lobos are the only team in the Mountain West that was on the list.

The Lobos also earned four WGCA All-American Scholars for the 2016-17 academic year in Katerina Jaeger, Eva Saulnier, Alexandra Moisand and Ingrid Gutierrez.
