Men’s Tennis Heads to MW Championship Tournament

MW Men’s Tennis Championship Bracket Release

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Mountain West Conference has announced the 2017 MW Men’s Tennis Championship Bracket. The University of New Mexico Men’s Tennis team received the No. 4 seed, improving one seed higher than last year’s No. 5 seed.

Utah State received the No. 1 seed followed by No. 2 seed Fresno State and No. 3 seed UNLV. 
 
The Lobos are currently 12-12 in the season and 4-3 in Mountain West Conference play. As the No. 4 seed, they will take on the No. 5 seed San Diego State in the quarterfinals round of the tournament on Friday. This will be the second time the Lobos and the Aztecs face each other this season. 

The Aztecs are 9-14 in the season and 4-3 in conference play. They defeated the Lobos 4-2 on Sunday, Apr. 16. The team is coming off a four match winning streak after defeating Santa Clara and UNLV this past weekend.
 
The 2017 MW Men’s Tennis Tournament will be held April 28-30 at the Appleton Tennis Center in Boise, Idaho. New Mexico’s match against San Diego State is set for Friday at 3 p.m. MT. The winner of Friday’s match will face the winner of No. 1 seed Utah State and No. 8 seed Boise State in the semifinals on Saturday, April 29 at 6 p.m. MT.
