ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — On a picture perfect day in Albuquerque, nearly 1,500 fans enjoyed an afternoon of sunshine and football at University Stadium as the Lobos completed their 2017 Spring Camp with the Third Annual Spring Showcase.
The controlled practice and scrimmage featured a new twist, with the team coming out not in practice gear but in full uniforms with the offense in red and the defense in white. Quarterbacks, who normally wear black in practice, wore anthracite. The team went through drills, including several passing drills that had the crowd excited.
After practice, well nearly 150 kids came down to the field to take part in a free kid’s clinic, hosted by the players. While the players put the kids, ages 5-14, through a variety of drills, Coach Davie mingled with parents and posed for photos. Then afterwards, the players stayed and signed autographs on schedule posters and took pictures with the kids. The practice was the final of 15 in the Spring season, and now the team will finish off the semester before having a little time off before coming back for summer classes in June.
