ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Future dates with Power 5 conference foes Texas A&M and UCLA, as well as a home-and-home with regional rival UTEP highlight the addition of seven games to future Lobo schedules.  The announcement also completes the non-conference schedules for the 2018 and 2019 seasons.

Along with games at Texas A&M (2021), at UCLA (2025) and UTEP (in El Paso in 2021 and in Albuquerque in 2022), UNM has announced a home-and-home with new FBS squad Liberty University and a home game with FBS opponent Houston Baptist.

The game with Texas A&M, who UNM also faces on November 11 of this season, will take place September 18 of 2021 in College Station.  The game with UCLA will take place on September 13, 2025 at The Rose Bowl in Pasadena.  The game in College Station has a guarantee of $1,100,000 and 450 complementary tickets.  The game in Pasadena has a guarantee of $1,200,000 plus 2,000 complementary tickets that UNM can sell for extra revenue.

New Mexico last played Texas A&M in 2008 and 2009 as part of a home-and-home series.  UNM lost 28-22 in Albuquerque in 2008 and 41-6 in College Station in 2009.  The only previous meeting with UCLA was in the 2002 Las Vegas Bowl, where UCLA defeated the Lobos 27-13.

The additions of UCLA and Texas A&M extend UNM’s run of facing top competition and conferences on the road.  UNM played Texas and Texas Tech in 2012, Pittsburgh in 2013, Arizona State in both 2014 and 2015 and Rutgers in 2016.  UNM has upcoming contests with Texas A&M in 2017, Wisconsin in 2018, Notre Dame in 2019 and USC in 2020.

The home-and-home series with UTEP will be the 79th and 80th meetings between the two regional rivals.  After New Mexico State (107 meetings and counting), UTEP is UNM’s most-common opponent and the Lobos lead the series 42-33-3.  UNM won the last meeting in El Paso 42-35 in overtime in 2013, and UTEP won the last meeting in Albuquerque 31-24 in 2014.  UTEP played in University Stadium twice in 2014, losing to Utah State in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl 21-6.

The 2018 and 2019 schedules were completed with the addition of a home-and-home series with Liberty University.  The Lobos will host the Flames on September 29, 2018 and travel to Lynchburg, Virginia for the return on September 28, 2019.  Those two games complete the 2018 and 2019 schedules.  Liberty will be a full FBS member in 2018 after moving up from the FCS, where they have achieved tremendous success, going 57-25 over the past seven seasons with seven conference titles, going 23-5 in the Big South.

Houston Baptist on September 4, 2021 will serve as the season opener for the Lobos.  The game allows UNM to retain ties to the state of Texas.  Counting the upcoming games with UTEP, Texas A&M in both 2017 and 2021, Houston Baptist, Abilene Christian, Incarnate Word and Sam Houston State, the Lobos will have played a Texas team, or a game in Texas, 16 times since Bob Davie took over as head coach in 2012.

With season ticket packages starting at just $86, fans can ensure they will see each home game of the 2017 Lobo Football schedule.  To purchase new season tickets, call 505-925-LOBO, log on unmtickets.com or visit the WisePies Arena Ticket Office Monday through Friday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm Mountain Time.  2016 Lobo Football season ticket holders will have their seats held through the renewal process, which begins in early April.

NOTES: The addition of Houston Baptist give UNM a season opener at home in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021 … UNM still has two slots to fill, both at home, in 2020.
