ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team looks to take its momentum on the road at Nevada on Saturday, Dec. 30 at 3 p.m. MT. The Lobos, entering the conference matchup on a three-win streak, will take on the Wolf Pack on AT&T SportsNet.
The Lobos (6-8, 1-0 MW) are coming off of a commanding 87-58 victory over Air Force on Wednesday, marking the seventh straight victory in a Mountain West opener for UNM. Nevada (12-3, 1-0 MW) claimed a victory in its opener as well, taking down Fresno State on the road by a score of 80-65.
Both teams are averaging over 80 points per game entering Saturday’s matchup however, the Lobos are currently ranked eighth in the nation in total made 3-pointers and 11th in 3-pointers per game.

SERIES HISTORY
The Lobos and the Wolf Pack have met just 10 times in program history, dating back to February 2, 2013, with UNM leading the series 6-4. The Lobos claimed the first four games before Nevada won its first matchup in Reno 66-63 in overtime on Feb. 14, 2015. Since then, UNM has gone 2-3 against Nevada including falling in the last three straight.
Last season Nevada and UNM’s first meeting was one for the books. The Wolf Pack overcame a 25-point Lobo lead with 11 minutes left, forcing overtime and claiming a narrow one-point victory, 105-104 in The Pit. Nevada carried the momentum into the teams’ last meeting, taking another win in Reno 82-65.
THE COACHES
UNM head coach Paul Weir enters the game 6-8 in his first season at the helm of the Lobos, 34-14 in his career. The Wolf Pack is coached by Eric Musselman in his third season. He has guided Nevada to a 64-24 record in his tenure, which also marks his career record.
