ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — UNM Director of Athletics Eddie Nuñez announced the addition of Rob Robinson, senior associate athletics director/chief financial officer, to the department.

Robinson will oversee all fiscal operations and budget management for UNM Athletics, including the development and administration of capital and operating budgets, strategic financial planning and the establishment and management of financial control systems. Robinson will also serve as a member of the athletics department’s executive staff, serve as the liaison for the athletics department with designated UNM departments and will also assist as a sports administrator.

“My goal for UNM athletics is to develop an exemplary program that’s modeled on innovation, competitiveness and intelligence.  Smart, strategic financial planning and management will be pivotal to every metric of our success, from athletics to the graduation of students who are prepared to excel in sports and beyond,” said Nuñez.  “Rob’s wide range of experience allows him to have a big picture view of every decision we make and I expect he will be an invaluable contributor to our future.”

Robinson comes to the University of New Mexico from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he spent the past four and half years, and most recently as the senior associate athletics director – finance & administration. In this role, he was responsible for all fiscal operations for the department, including budget planning and forecasting, collaborating with main campus on budget issues, administering student-athlete grants-in-aid, and recommending cost and operational improvements in athletics.

Additionally, Robinson served as the sports administrator for the men’s basketball and women’s soccer programs and oversaw human resources, game and personnel contract executions, risk management, and strategic planning initiatives for the department. Robinson also served as the associate athletics director for business affairs and assistant athletics director for compliance in prior roles while at UTC.

“I am excited and honored to join the Lobo Family.  The opportunity to support Eddie Nuñez’s vision for excellence for UNM Athletics and advance the collective interests of our student-athletes, coaches, community and fans is very special to me. I cannot wait to call Albuquerque home.”

Prior to working at UTC, Robinson spent one year at the University of Oklahoma Athletics Department and began his career as a legal intern for the University of Tennessee Athletics Department.

Robinson holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Tennessee and a juris doctorate from the University of Tennessee College of Law.  He will officially start at UNM in January.
