ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Lobos will host the second round of the Emerald Coast Classic on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at Dreamstyle Arena as they take on Tennessee Tech for just the second time in the programs’ history at 7 p.m.

The Lobos are having a FLASH sale prior to Tuesday’s game in which fans can purchase special $15 bench tickets (rows 1-25) from 12 p.m. Monday – 12 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Lobos are entering the match with something to prove, coming off of a tough loss at NMSU on Friday to slip to 2-1 to start the season. TTU is 3-1 overall, coming off of an 82-68 victory over Kennesaw State. 

The Golden Eagles’ only loss of the season came against TCU (currently receiving votes in the national polls) on Nov. 13 on the road (100-63). The Lobos will play TCU on Friday, Nov. 24 in the third round of the Emerald Coast Classic.

MORE ABOUT THE EMERALD COAST CLASSIC:
The Emerald Coast Classic is a tournament that features eight teams from across the country. The eight teams represented include UNM, Jackson State, Maryland, Maryland Eastern Shore, Omaha, St. Bonaventure, (RV) TCU and Tennesee Tech.

Throughout the opening stretch of the 2017-18 season, teams have faced each other on their home turf for the first and second rounds, including UNM’s hosting of Omaha on Tuesday, Nov. 14. On Thanksgiving weekend however, the third and championship rounds will take place at Northwest Florida State College in Niceville, Fla. (near Destin). 

Once in Florida, the Lobos will take on (RV) TCU on Friday, Nov. 24 at 5 p.m. followed by either Maryland or St. Bonaventure on Saturday, Nov. 25 – time will be TBD. Both games will be aired on CBS Sports Network.

SERIES HISTORY
The Lobos and the Golden Eagles have faced each other just once in the programs’ history. The meeting took place on December 8, 2001 in which the Lobos claimed an 87-80 victory in The Pit. Tennessee Tech went into the half leading 43-39, but UNM outscored TTU 48-37 in the second half to run away with the game.

THE COACHES
UNM head coach Paul Weir enters the game 2-1 in his first season at the helm of the Lobos, 30-7 in his career. Tennessee Tech is led by Steve Payne who is in his seventh season with the Golden Eagles. Payne boasts a 3-1 record on the season, a 94-98 record in his career.
