Beaulieu Named C-USA Defensive Player of the Week

IRVING, TEXAS — Senior goalkeeper Jason Beaulieu of The University of New Mexico men’s soccer team earned his fourth Conference USA Player of the Week honor on Tuesday as he was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Week for his performances over LMU and FAU.

Beaulieu registered his 19th career shutout against Loyola Marymount on Friday, 3-0, before helping lead the Lobos to a 3-1 victory over FAU on Saturday. He tallied eight saves on the week for a .889 save percentage and a 0.50 goals against average on the week.

With his 19th shutout, Beaulieu remains ranked third in program history in shutouts, behind second-place Andrew Weber who posted 25 from 2001-2004. The program leader in career shutouts is current UNM associate head coach Mike Graczyk, who racked up 30 from 2004-2007.

Not only is Beaulieu ranked in shutouts, he ranks fifth in career wins with 33, fourth in career saves with 203 and fourth in career appearances with 62. He is also ranked nationally in four different categories including 50th in save percentage (0.784).

The Lobo men’s soccer team recently earned its 14th United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award with Beaulieu as a two-time Academic All-District honoree and a three-time Academic All-Conference recipient. 

The 7-3-1 Lobos are set to return to the UNM Soccer Complex on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. as they host C-USA opponent UAB. UNM is currently fourth in the C-USA standings with a 2-1-1 record.
