ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team will face Nevada Saturday for some late night hoops action at 9:15 p.m. MT. The game will be available on ESPN2 (Comcast 8/253 HD, Dish 144, DirecTV 209).
The Lobos are 9-6 on the season and 2-1 in Mountain West play after falling short at Utah State on Wednesday. The Lobos were led by Tim Williams as he scored a game-high 30 points, his second 30-point game on the season. He was 13-for-18 from the field and 5-for-6 from the foul line. He also led the Lobos in rebound with seven.
On the season, the Lobos are shooting 46.7 percent, which is second-best in the conference. They lead the conference and are 23rd in the nation in free throw shooting at 76 percent. Free throws has been a huge part of the Lobos’ game, making 64 of the last 79 attempts.
Williams continues to lead the Lobos in the scoring column, averaging 18.5 points per game. He leads the conference and is 27th among the nation with a 59.2 shooting percentage. Elijah Brown is second on the team at 16.7 point per game. He is shooting 80 percent from the free throw line and has made 32 of his last 34 free throws.
The Lobos will be in for a tough test as Nevada comes into WisePies Arena with some momentum after beating San Diego State Wednesday night, 72-69. The Wolf Pack is 13-3 on the season and 2-1 in the Mountain West. Nevada is led by the league’s leading scoring Marcus Marshall. He averages 20.4 points per game and is shooting 40 percent from the three-point line.
Three other players average in double figures; Cameron Oliver (15.1 ppg), Jordan Caroline (12.7 ppg), D.J. Fenner (12.5 ppg). Fenner leads the team in shooting percentage (47.7%) and three-point field goal percentage (51.8%).
As a team, Nevada is second in the lead in scoring (77.8 ppg) and second in three-point percentage (39.0 percent). From the field, they are shooting 44.8 percent and bringing down 38.8 rebound per game.

Craig Neal is in his fourth season as head coach of the Lobos and owns a 68-44 record. He is 7-0 inside The Pit this season. Nevada is coached by Eric Musselman. He is in his second season and owns a 37-17 record.
ABOUT THE SERIES
This game will be just the ninth meeting between the two programs, with the series dating back to Feb. 2, 2013. The Lobos are 6-2 against the Wolf Pack all-time. Last season, the Lobos claimed the regular season series by scores of 88-76 in Albuquerque (Dec. 30) and 71-66 in Reno (March 5). The Lobos fell to the Wolf Pack 64-62 in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West tournament last year.
