Emilie CedervärnEmilie Cedervärn

AUSTIN, TexasEmilie Cedervärn, a four-time All-America for the UNM ski team, was named CoSIDA First Team Academic All-America.  She becomes the fourth CoSIDA Academic All-America for the 2015-16 season.  It marks the 15th consecutive year that UNM has had multiple Academic All-America selections.

Cedervärn becomes the ninth female student-athlete at New Mexico to be named to the At-Large team, and the fourth skier .  The At-Large field includes the women’s sports of Beach Volleyball, Bowling, Crew/Rowing,  Fencing, Field Hockey, Golf, Gymnastics, Ice Hockey, Lacrosse, Rifle, Skiing, Swimming & Diving, Tennis and Water Polo.  Due to the sheer number of sports and student-athletes, the at-large team is one of the toughest to make.

Cedervärn was a two-time All-America this season, finishing fifth in the Nordic freestyle to earn First Team All-America honors, and then eighth in Nordic classical to earn Second Team All-America honors.  Over the course of the season, despite missing five races, she won three titles, to give her eight, tying the UNM Nordic record.

Last week, Chris DeVito and Alex Estrella were named CoSIDA Third Team Academic All-America for baseball.  In the Fall, Josh Dye was named First Team Academic All-America for men’s soccer.
