INDIANAPOLIS – The University of New Mexico women’s basketball team finished 11th in the nation in attendance as announced by the NCAA. It is the 17th consecutive year the Lobos have been in the top 25 and the 17th consecutive year the Lobos have finished atop the Mountain West.
In the Lobos’ 17 homes games, they averaged 5,511 per game and played in front of a total of 93,683 fans inside WisePies Arena. Outside the “Power 5” conferences, the Lobos ranked second in the nation in average attendance behind national champion UCONN.
The Mountain West finished seventh among all the conferences in the country. The Lobos were just shy of averaging 4,000 more fans per game than the Mountain West average of 1,622.
The Lobos will look to continue its attendance success as they move forward into the 2016-17 season under head coach Mike Bradbury.
