NOTE: There is no football practice on Saturday, April 9
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Friday’s ninth practice of 2016 Spring Camp should be action packed to say the least, as head coach Bob Davie has announced that the team will scrimmage for a good portion of the practice. The scrimmage is being held in conjunction with the program’s fifth annual Spring Coaches Clinic. The clinic is put on to benefit New Mexico High School coaches, and those from the surrounding areas.
The clinic will include watching that Friday’s practice and scrimmage, lunch, group presentations, and a breakout session with the Lobo coaches, as well as a social following the events. The clinic is free, but per NCAA regulations, attendees must pay for lunch, which is $10. Registration for the event will begin at 8:15 a.m., and the event will conclude around 2:30 p.m. Coaches should RSVP with how many coaches are coming from a given school and their positions to lobofb@unm.edu.
Due to the scrimmage, the time for Friday’s practice has been altered slightly, with the practice officially starting at 9:45, with the scrimmage starting about 30 minutes afterwards. The practice is still scheduled to end around 11:30 a.m.
In addition, some other spring dates and practice times have been moved around. Next week’s schedule has been altered with just practices on Monday and Wednesday, and not Friday practice, with those practices starting at 9:15 a.m. In addition, the 2016 Spring Showcase will be held on Saturday, April 16 with doors to University Stadium opening at 1:30 p.m. There will be plenty of kid friendly activities at the stadium including jumpers, along with a kids clinic after the Showcase and special concessions deals inside the stadium.
The team will hold two practices in the week following the Spring Showcase, and those will be announced next week.
