Women’s Tennis Seeded Second in MW Tournament

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—The Mountain West announced the 2016 women’s tennis championship bracket for the tournament and the No. 56 University of New Mexico women’s tennis team will come in with a No. 2 seed.
 
The Lobos earned the second seed after finishing their regular season going 14-6. They also went undefeated in conference play, posting a 5-0 record. The Fresno State Bulldogs came in ahead of the Lobos with a 17-8 regular season record, 4-0 in the MW.
 
New Mexico has a bye for the first round of the tournament and will start their play in the quarterfinals of the tournament. The Lobos will match up against the tenth seeded San Diego State team after they upset the No. 7 seeded Nevada in the first rounds of the tournament today.
 
San Diego State is currently 7-16 overall and posted a 0-4 conference record before the tournament. Their upset over Nevada was their first win in seven matches. Their match against the Lobos will take place tomorrow at 4 p.m. MT.
