ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Registration for for the Junior Golf Camp hosted by the University of New Mexico is now open.
There are two sessions for the campers to choose from. Session No. 1 is scheduled for June 6-9, and the second session is set for June 13-16. Each session runs from 8 a.m. to noon and the cost per camper is $175. Included in the camp’s cost is a camp t-shirt, refreshments and prizes.
The camp will be held at the University of New Mexico’s Championship Golf Course and will be directed by Lobo coaches Glen Millican and Drew McGee. In addition, further instruction will be provided by current UNM golfers and guest apperances by select touring professionals are planned as their scheduels permit.
Participants should bring golf clubs with the owner’s name on them (a limited number of clubs will be available on loan), sunscreen, water bottle, tennis or soft-spiked shoes (no soccer or football cleats allowed), golf tees, insect repellent, hat or visor, golf glove and a golf towel.
Campers will be placed into groups based off of age and skill level. Each group will be guided by a skilled insructor and allowed access to UNM South’s championship calliber practice facilities and the Lobo Golf Center. This state-of-the-art video and swing analysis center serves as a measuring point for campers, allowing them to develop their game further, readying themselves for improvement.
Comprehensive instruction will be provided to all campers aimed at improving the golfers fundamentals via emphasis on chipping, pitching, putting and course management. Educational seminars will also be provided on a bevy of topics including the history of the game, rules, etiquette, safety, equipment, scholarships, course management, sports psychoogy and TrackMan video analysis.
