ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—The University of New Mexico women’s tennis team opened conference play at home today against Colorado State and swept the Rams 7-0.
The Lobos started off strong when they clinched the doubles point. Dominique Dulski and Emily Olivier teamed up at the number one position to take on Aina Hernandez-Soler and Madison Porter and topped them 6-0.
At the number two position, Andrea Leblanc and Rachana Bhat defeated Emily Kolbow and Celine Voss 6-3 to clinch the doubles point. Sharon Coone and Ludivine Burguiere’s match at the number three position was left unfinished.
In singles play, Leblanc made quick work of her opponent when she topped L. Hernandez-Soler 6-0, 6-2 at the number one position. Shortly after, Bhat defeated Voss 6-1, 6-1 at the number six position.
Burguiere was next to score a point for the Lobos, when she beat Buxton 6-0, 6-3. She competed at the number four position. Olivier clinched the match win for New Mexico when she defeated A. Hernandez-Soler 6-1, 6-3. She competed at the number two position.
Dulski’s match at the number three position and Coone’s match at number five played out. Dulski was trailing 5-3 in her first set, but battled back to win 7-5. In her second, she won 6-1. Coone also topped CSU. She defeated Porter 6-1, 6-3.
The Lobos advance to 1-0 in conference play and 8-6 in the season. They face Wyoming, another conference opponent, at home on Sunday. The match is set for 3 p.m.
