The Lobos come into the twinbill with an 11-8 overall record. They have won their last four out of five games but are coming off an 11-3 five-inning loss to Rio Grande Rival New Mexico State.
Through the first 19 games of the season, the Lobos are hitting .308 as a team with senior outfielder Mariah Rimmer leading the way with a .406 batting average. Two others are hitting .400 or better, including freshman outfielder Cheyenne Smith and junior pitcher Tess McPherson. Another threat at the plate for the Lobos is junior Jasmine Casados, who is hitting .356.
In the circle, the Lobos have a 4.60 team earned run average. They have allowed 93 runs off 169 hits in 118.2 innings of work. Senior Lauren Soles leads the way with a 2.93 ERA. In 28.2 innings of work, she has 15 strikeouts and has allowed 14 runs off 35 hits. She holds her opponents to a .294 batting average.
Freshman Colette Robert has seen the most time in the circle. She has a 4.41 ERA and a 6-3 record but leads the team with 31 strikeouts. She has allowed 39 runs off 76 hits in 54 innings of work.
UTEP comes into the twinbill with a 9-16 record after going 0-3 over the weekend to start off the Conference USA season. The Miners’ opponent Marshall outscored them 23-5 in the three game series.
Sophomore Courtney Clayton leads the Miners at the plate with a .366 average. In 25 games, she has nine doubles, one triple and leads the team with four home runs. As a team, they are hitting .299 with 23 home runs, 30 doubles and three triples.
In the circle, senior Danielle Pearson leads the way for the Miners with a 4.82 ERA. The Lobos will most likely face her in one of two games. In 40.2 innings of work, Pearson has fanned 25 batters and allowed 37 runs off 60 hits. Junior Kaitlin Fifield has seen the most innings of 61 and leads the team with 49 strikeouts.
The doubleheader will start at 1 p.m. The second game will follow right after the conclusion of game one.
