Adcock Named a Finalist for Wuerffel Trophy

Garrett Adcock and Lamar JordanGarrett Adcock and Lamar Jordan

Garrett Adcock, the only college football player that is in his second year of law school, has been named one of three finalists for the 2016 Wuerffel Trophy, known as “College Football’s Premier Award for Community Service,” presented annually by the All Sports Association in Fort Walton Beach.

Along with Adcock, other finalists are Christian McCaffrey of Stanford and Trevor Knight of Texas A&M.

The Wuerffel Trophy, named after Wuerffel, the 1996 Heisman Trophy winning quarterback from the University of Florida, is awarded to the Football Bowl Subdivision player who best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement.

Voting for the Wuerffel Trophy is performed by a National Selection Committee that includes college football television and print media, industry notables, former head coaches and prior Wuerffel Trophy recipients. The formal announcement of the 2016 Wuerffel Trophy recipient will be on Dec. 6, 2016, at the National Football Foundation’s press conference in New York City.

While Adcock has ended his playing career due to injuries, it doesn’t diminish his well documented service and academic feats.  Soon to be a four-time Mountain West All-Academic selection, Adcock is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District selection.  His volunteerism extends to the nation of Ghana, where he three times has traveled abroad to volunteer, including the building of the Christian Adcock & Sons Christian Hospital in Ateiku.
