ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team (1-0) is set to face the Houston Baptist Huskies (0-1) and celebrate Nike N7 Monday at 7 p.m. in WisePies Arena – The Pit.

The Lobos are coming off a season-opening win against Idaho State Friday, 81-70. The Lobos we down 38-32 at halftime but used a second half surge and a career-high night from junior Sam Logwood to comeback and claim the 14th straight season-opening victory.

Houston Baptist was picked to finish fifth in the Southland Conference, earning 91 points in the preseason coaches poll. They were just two points behind fourth-place Northwestern State. The Huskies fell in their season opener Friday night, falling 93-67 to Texas Tech. They return two double-digit scorers from last season in senior Colter Lasher and junior Josh Ibarra.
 
Nike N7 Night:
The Lobos will be celebrating Nike N7 and American Indian Night, in conjunction with Nike N7 to honor Native American Heritage Month. The Lobos will be playing in their custom turquoise jerseys, which represent harmony, friendship and fellowship in Native American Culture. The uniforms also compliment the Nike N7 Power of Perseverance Collection, recognizing the movement of sports on Native lands and driving awareness of Native American culture. If you wear turquoise at the time of purchase, you can receive a $17 ticket for bench seats while supplies last.  
 
The Nike N7 jerseys will be auctioned off on the north concourse through halftime. Jersey proceeds will benefit the NB3 Foundation.

The Coaches:
Craig Neal enters the game 1-0 on the season and owns a 60-38 overall record as head coach of the Lobos. Neal has won four straight season openers after Friday’s 81-70 win over Idaho State. Ron Cottrell is in his 26th year with Houston Baptist and owns a career record 452-351 for the Huskies.
 
Series History:
New Mexico and Houston Baptist will face off Monday for just the second time in program history. The only game in the series history was played on Jan. 3, 2012 in WisePies Arena. The Lo­bos earned a victory, 98-61.

The game will be televised on ROOTS SPORTS. The broadcast will begin at 7 p.m. MT and air exclusively on ROOT SPORTS in most areas of New Mexico, as well as Colorado, Eastern Wyoming, and portions of South Dakota, Nebraska and Kansas.
