IRVING, TEXAS — Two members of The University of New Mexico men’s soccer team have been named to the InTouch Credit Union All-Academic Team, the Conference USA announced Wednesday. Senior Niko Hansen and junior Jason Beaulieu earn the honor after the pair also claimed spots on the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team earlier this season.

New Mexico is one of just three conference teams to have two players earn the honor this season. The InTouch Credit Union All-Academic Team is voted upon based on an individual’s academic performance, along with performance on the pitch. This is the second-straight season that the Lobos have been represented by at least two student-athletes.
Beaulieu has put together an outstanding season between the posts, tallying six shutouts to help lead the Lobo defense. Beaulieu was recently named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week for notching his sixth shutout of the season and has registered 15 shutouts in his career. The junior now ties for fourth in career shutouts in program history. He earns his place on the All-Academic team with a lofty 3.93 GPA in civil engineering. He is no stranger to academic accolades, earning a spot on the 2015 C-USA All-Academic Team as well as a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection. He is also a two-time recipient of the C-USA Commissioner’s Academic Medal.
Hansen earns his spot on the All-Academic team for the first time in his career with his 3.49 GPA in psychology while leading the Lobos this season with 22 points on 10 goals and two assists. He also leads the league in goals scored. In addition to earning CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team and C-USA All-Academic Team honors this season, Hansen was named College Soccer News Player of the Week on Sept. 19. He has also notched five game-winning goals and leads the conference in three statistical categories including total goals (10), total points (21) and game-winning goals (5).
Beaulieu and Hansen will take to the field again on Friday, Nov. 11 when the Lobos take on No. 5 Charlotte in the 2016 Conference USA Semifinals at 2:30 p.m.
