New Mexico Game Notes | Hawai’i Game Notes

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — In the distance, the Lobo fotball team can see the islands.  In the distance is another thing … the race for the Mountain West title and a bowl berth.  The University of New Mexico can move one step closer to both on Saturday night as it’s #LateNightLobos as UNM takes on the University of Hawai’i at 10:07 p.m. Mountain Time, 6:07 in Honolulu.

Last year the Lobos took a thriller, winning 28-27 when Hawai’i missed a chance to clinch the win with a short 22-yard field goal.  That kick went wide and Austin Apodaca, who had sat on the bench for the better part of three hours, drove UNM 80 yards in a minute, all through the air, for the winning touchdown.  That was a laser strike to Dameon Gamblin.  Lee Crosby then picked off a pass to seal the win.

Hawai’i has improved immensely since that game, and is currently 4-4 overall with three losses to Power 5 schools, and a 3-1 Mountain West record.  Both teams are trying to stay within a game of the Division leaders.  Hawai’i leads the all-time series 14-9, but UNM has won the last six.

BUYING TICKETS & COMING TO THE GAME
Information on purchasing tickets can be found HERE, although if you don’t have tickets, we hope you at least have your plane ride booked.

HOW TO WATCH
Well this stinks, but you can’t.  Oceanic/Time Warner will not allow the game to be streamed outside of the islands, and due to new management there, it was cost prohibitive to get a signal back to the U.S., particularly as it can’t be broadcast online digitally.  So … it’s be there or be square sadly enough.

The Live Stats link is isn’t available yet, but it will be posted here and mobile users should download lobostats.com onto their phones or tablets.
